Bunny Cactus

At last something that is finished and photographed nicely (thanks to a nice new tripod)! This bunny-cactus hybrid was an idea I've had for years now, when I had a real cactus that was fluffy and I added ears, nose and eyes in a very childish way and called it Rabbit.

I'm going to fully admit that I took it into collage today for the sole purpose of wanting people to go gooey over it and make me feel good. After 2+ years of having no positive feedback to be smug about I think I deserve a little now. :)

Oh I'm probably going to give this to my Mum as its mother's day in the next few weeks but she can't actually have it till after my degree show in May so I'll make a little desktop for her with the top picture as a filler. I love my camera. It takes sexy photos.

Furious Fire

Ahh at last the fire is done! It's not been easy, even getting the yarn was a bother. The orange and red yarns actually come from two different colour variations of Wendy Fusion. Orange is from Cajun the crimson from All Spice. Originally it was going to be just the reds and oranges of Cajun but I found that the red clashed something horrible with the chickens heads so thankfully I ordered All Spice as well which amongst the brown and purple (who decides these colours looked nice together???) there was a little crimson. Its a knitted loop stitch and I would have liked it to be bigger but there was not a lot of the good colours. *Sigh* and I still hate Wendy yarns, (even this one, which I thought might be the exception to the rule), they are horrid tacky acrylic squeaky rubbish.

With that little moan over I can move on to moping over the rather lacklustre relationship I'm having with my new camera. I need a tripod and a new SD card. Hopefully presents and sweeties will placate him into taking startlingly beautiful pictures for me.

Bumper Chickens Adventure

These are crocheted models for an illustration of the phrase "numerous smoldering chickens". I'm going to loops stitch some flames later for them to sit on.

I'm making the effort to blog more so maybe there will be posts every few days or so so keep an eye out... :)

Other projects on the go:

This is my new toy, a knitting mill. It's like the i-cording of last post but a heck of a lot quicker. and it's turning this crappy lemon yellow acrylic 2(ish) ply yarn I found in a charity shop for £1.99 (400g about) into awesome thick yarn that is going to be turned into this:

A giant chicken. Well this just happens to be the giant chickens bottom at the moment. Its crocheted with a 8mm hook and even that's a bit too tight. The yarn is slightly hairy so it makes it bulky.

I'll leave this post with a lovely image of Jo Sharp Infusion Kid Mohair. I generally hate mohair but the colours of this were just to lovely to ignore. I'm going to make it into a hamster (for another illustration.)

I'd like to comment that I have a new camera and It has far more gadgets and do-dads than I have brain power so I'm not quite use to it yet. Well that's my excuse...

Hopefully better photographs tomorrow..

2Ply

I've taken on this odd little project as therapy knitting while the impending doom of the last ever semester of college gets into full swing. The yarn is the trusty old 2 ply wool I've had forever and I'm patiently i-cording it into something i can crochet with an 8mm hook.

Its quite nice to have something thats really simple to work with your hands while the brain is rumbling aroung your head thinking of colour cominations, style choices and how the hell I'm going to make it all work.
